🚀 Supervisor Turner of Loudoun County Push for Micro-Grid Solutions for On-Site Power Generation 🌱Loudoun County, the world’s data center capital, is experiencing an unprecedented surge in power demand. Home to 181 data centers, Eastern Loudoun County's need for electricity has skyrocketed by 340% in just five years, from 1 GW in 2018 to a forecasted 3.4 GW in 2023. If this trend continues, we could be looking at a demand of 11.56 GW by 2028.To address this challenge, Supervisor Turner is calling for micro-grid solutions for on-site power generation. A modern economy needs data centers, but not inefficient ones. Many people assume that #datacenters rely entirely on modern technology; this is surprisingly not the case. Over 80 percent of digital information in data centers still resides on spinning mechanical hard disk drives (HDDs). This 70 year old, energy-intensive technology requires enormous amounts of power, cooling, and space and fails more often than modern #Flash technologies currently available.
